Standards Committee

The Standards Committee's job is to enforce the architectural and design restrictions that each Walden Woods homeowner agrees to upon purchase of a home in Walden Woods. A unit owner may appeal a decision made by the Standards Committee to the Conservancy Board.  The committee gets involved when a Walden Woods homeowner wants to make an exterior change to their home or the property surrounding it.

Standards are recorded in the Rules Document. Please see the AAI link for more details.

The committee also gets involved when there is a report of a suspected violation of a covenant or rule such as:

  • Pets must be curbed and waste disposed of immediately
  • No signs (except for real estate signs needed in the sale of a home)
  • No garage or tag sales (except for the annual community-wide sale authorized.
The Walden Woods Standards Committee reminds all residents and homeowners of the requirements set forth in the Declaration and Rules.

Those without computer access may request copies of these documents from Elite Property Management. These documents set forth all of the rules and regulations that cover our obligations as homeowners and/or residents of Walden Woods. They keep our community a beautiful, tasteful and lovely place to live.

Homeowners and residents are reminded to familiarize themselves with the pertinent sections of the Declaration and Rules and the necessity to file an AAI with the property management company (Elite) and obtain approval before any work is commenced. Failure to adhere to the terms of the Declaration and/or the Rules may result in the imposition of fines and the removal, at the owner’s expense, of any non-permitted changes.

While the Declaration and Rules cover all rules of our planned community, the following are examples of common inquiries.

1. Porches, stoops, lawn ornaments.  Porches and front stoops shall be uncluttered. Minimal, well maintained decorative planters containing live plants, proportional outdoor furniture and firewood that is neatly stacked in a hoop or rack such that it does not obstruct any door or window is permitted. However, unit owners may not display, place, or store articles of clothing, recreational equipment, toys or vehicles of any kind, hammocks or any other decorative items on porches and front stoops. Any outdoor decorations that detract from the typical Colonial New England Village concept are prohibited.

2. Generators.  If you determine that you would like to install a generator, you must file an AAI with the property management company and obtain approval before any work is commenced.

3. Signage.  Signs advertising a business may not be displayed in any section of Walden Woods including lawn signs, windows plaques, etc.

If each of us does our part in following the guidelines set forth in the Declaration and Rules, we can continue to be proud of this beautiful place in which we live. Please direct any questions to Elite Property Management
